Game Day Story Lines

2024-25 is the 100th season of collegiate basketball at Murray State & third in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Saturday's 153rd clash between the Racers and WKU Hilltoppers marks the continuation of one of the longest running collegiate basketball series.
MSU and WKU were founding members of the Ohio Valley Conference in 1948. WKU left the OVC in 1982 and the Racers joined the MVC in 2022.
Since the series became a non-conference rivalry, the Racers have won 13 and WKU 11.
MSU has won four of their last five and this week broke into the mid-major poll at No. 22.
All-MVC Preseason selection, JaCobi Wood helped the Racers to a pair of home wins last week over Evansville 63-61 in the MVC opener and a 73-53 victory over Southeast Missouri.
Wood scored 44 points combined in the two games as he went 16-30 from the field and 6-12 from the 3-point line.
The Racers have started the same five in all seven games: JaCobi Wood, Terence Harcum, Kylen Milton, AJ Ferguson and Nick Ellington.
Wood and Ellington, who were named All-MVC Preseason, have started all 110 combined games they've been involved in at MSU. Wood has 72 straight starts and Ellington is now at 40 in a row.
The Racers hit the road Tuesday to play their second MVC game at Indiana State in a 6 p.m. tip in Terre Haute.
