Racers End Nonconference Schedule with 110-79 Victory

Murray State women's basketball defeated Western Carolina as 11 Racers scored in the matchup
11 players scored for Murray State women's basketball as the Racers picked up a 110-79 victory over Western Carolina at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The game marks the Racers fourth game this season scoring 100 or more points and the 11 different scorers for MSU is a high for this season.
Katelyn Young led the Racers with 23 points and five rebounds as the sophomore duo of Haven Ford and Halli Poock combined for 38 points and 11 assists. Destiny Thomas and Braxcynn Baker had 11 and 13 points, respectively and Jada Cook and Briley Pena each had seven points. Freshmen Adriana Blazquez and Grace Billington scored their first career points.
Murray State scored 62 points in the first half, the most in a half this season, while forcing 15 turnovers from WCU in the first 20 minutes. The Racers posted 42 bench points and combined for 25 team assists on 37 made field goals. MSU is now averaging 90.1 points per game which would rank sixth nationally as the Racers finish their nonconference slate.
The Racers return to action on December 29 and begin Missouri Valley Conference play against Illinois State at the CFSB Center.
