- 2024-25 is the 100th season of collegiate basketball at Murray State & third in the Missouri Valley Conference.
- The Racers host Illinois State, MSU's 2,705th game in their history, 386th game at the CFSB Center and their 43rd game in The Valley.
- MSU is coming off their first appearance in Hawaii since 1998 as they defeated Loyola, on Christmas Day, in their final game after losses to Nebraska and Charlotte(double overtime) at the 15th Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.
- The Racers had started the same five in their first 11 games until the Charlotte game when KyeRon Lindsay made his first Murray State start in place of Nick Ellington.
- JaCobi Wood, Terence Harcum, Kylen Milton and AJ Ferguson have started all 13 games of this season.
- Harcum has hit a 3-pointer in all 13 games this season for the Racers.
- Harcum, from Appalachian State, is part of a trio of players that joined the Racers for their final season, as Kylen Milton played last season at Pine Bluff and AJ Ferguson at Southern Illinois.
- The Racers are 1-1 in early MVC play with a home win over Evansville 63-61 (Dec. 3) and an 84-74 defeat at Indiana State (Dec. 18).
- The Redbirds are 0-2 in The Valley after dropping a home game Sunday in Normal by a 73-67 final.
- ISU has won the last two as they took both regular season meetings in 2023-24.
- Next up for MSU is the Iowa swing as the Racers play Sunday (Jan. 5) at Drake and (Jan. 8) Â at Northern Iowa.
