Racers Selected 2nd MVC Poll – Open Indoor Season at SIU Event

As indoor competition heats up, the Racers were picked No. 2 in the MVC Preseason Poll
The Murray State women's track & field team was named No. 2 in the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Women's Track & Field Preseason Poll as they get in an early opener to the season this weekend at the Saluki Fast Start in Carbondale, Illinois.
The Racers are joined in the SIU meet by Lindenwood, Maryville, Washington U and Saint Louis in the Friday/Saturday event at the Southern Illinois Recreation Center.
Heading into their third indoor season in the MVC, the Racers were selected second in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches and picked up a pair of first place votes. Murray State hopes to challenge top pick and defending champion Indiana State when they get to the MVC Championships in Chicago (March
Out of several teams that have found success in Murray State's first two years in The Valley, the Racers' track & field program is among the top in producing four second-place finishes already. In 2023 and 2024, the Racers placed second at the league indoor and outdoor championships.
After the Sycamores and Racers 1&2 in the poll, the rest of the top five indoor team predictions include Illinois State, Belmont and Northern Iowa.
