Racers Fall To Warkhawks In High-Scoring Affair

Four lead changes occurred in Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe.
Four lead changes were made in a scoring affair that saw 22 total runs on 28 combined hits.
ULM jumped to a two-run lead early in the first inning on a pair of RBI base hits from Michelle Artzberger and Bryce Blaser.
The Racers came out strong in the second inning, putting up four runs on two outs. Dustin Mercer started the rally on an RBI double followed by a two-RBI base hit from Riley Hawthorne. The inning was capped off on a bases-loaded walk by Taylor Howell.
The Warhawks took the lead back after scoring three runs in both the fourth and sixth inning. The lead was cut to four on an RBI single from Howell.
Murray State then surged for five runs in the eighth inning on a Drew Vogel RBI double, RBI singles from Howell, Hawthorne and Carson Garner, and a sacrifice fly from Howell.
ULM evened it up on a fielding error in the bottom of the inning and scored the go-ahead runs on a two-run double.
The Racers and Warhawks square away for the rubber match on Sunday, February 25 at 1 p.m.
