Racers Advance to the Second Round of Hoops in the Heartland

Murray State women’s basketball beats Bradley to move on to the second round of Hoops in the Heartland.
In A Nutshell
Murray State women's basketball wins 87-49 over Bradley to advance to the second round of the Hoops in the Heartland, Thursday.

The Racers got on a quick start and never stopped. They outscored the Braves 22-13 in the first quarter, 16-11 in the second quarter and went on to dominate the second half 49-25.

MSU has won all three matchups against Bradley this season. They will move on to play Missouri State in the second round of the tournament.

Kate the Great
Katelyn Young led the Racers with 16 points. She now has 2,274 career points and is 14 points away from becoming the all-time scoring leader in program history.

Young also posted four rebounds and is now 14 rebounds away from her 1000th career rebound.

Zoe Stewart's Hoops in the Heartland Debut
Zoe Stewart posted 15 points and five rebounds in her Hoops in the Heartland debut. She went 7-12 from the floor and 1-3 from three-point range.

20-Win Season
The Racers earned There 20th win of the season. It is only their sixth time in program history and second time under Rechelle Turner. They are one of five teams in The Valley to have won 20 games this season.

Their previous 20-win season was in 2021-22 where they went 22-10 and earning a spot in the Women's National Invitational Tournament.

On to Round Two
Murray State will face the third seeded Missouri State in the quarterfinals of the Hoops in the Heartland, tomorrow.
