Murray State women’s basketball falls to Missouri State in the quarterfinal round of the Hoops in the Heartland.

Murray State women's basketball falls 70-71 to Missouri State in the quarterfinals of the Hoops in the Heartland, Friday.

In a tight battle, the Racers were able to edge the Bears 33-29 in the first half. Missouri State took back the lead in the by outscoring the Racers 21-10 in the third quarter.

Despite Katelyn Young fouling out with nine minutes and 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Racers outscored the Bears 27-19 in the remainder of the game but failed to edge the win.

Ava Learn's First Start as a Racer
Ava Learn led the Racers in her first start in the blue and gold. She has 16 points and 11 rebounds for her third career double-double.

She also posted four blocks and one steal.

Kate the Great
Young follows Learn with 12 points and seven rebounds. She now has 2,286 career points and is two points away from becoming the all-time scoring leader in program history.

Young is also seven rebounds away from her 1000th career rebound.
