Murray State women's soccer is slated to open their 2024 season against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday, August 15 at 6 p.m. CT at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Thursday's match marks the third all-time meeting between the Bearcats and the Racers. Cincinnati holds a 2-0 record over Murray State with a win at home in 2022 and a double overtime win in Murray, Kentucky in 2021.
"We've had a great week of prep," head coach Matt Lodge said. "We've learned a lot from our preseason game and hopefully started to work out some of those kinks. Cincinnati will be a very tough game voming off their first season in the Big 12 and causing an upset in the tournament. They will be hungry."
The Racers return 17 players from the 2023 roster, including team captains in graduate Hailey Cole, senior Morgan Bodker and juniors Tori Schrimpf and Mary Hardy. Along with this quartet returns Griselda Revolorio, who became an impact for MSU later in the 2023 season.
Revolorio, a native of Washington, Indiana, notched six clean sheets in 16 appearances in 2023. She set a new single-season program record with a goals against average of 0.61, beating out Alex Steigerwald's 0.64 GAA in 2015. Steigerwald also holds the record for the third-best single-season goals against average with 0.68 in 2017.
"We must match the intensity and play our own game," Lodge added. "I'm excited to start the 25th season in school history, let's make it a great one."

Scouting Report
Cincinnati is led by head coach Erica Demers, who is entering her second season at the helm of the Bearcats' women's soccer program and eighth season as a head coach. She led the Bearcats to a Big 12 Championship Tournament appearance in their inaugural season in the Big 12 in 2023, securing a first-round win over Baylor by a score of 3-2 to set a team season high for goals scored in a game.
Demers led her team to a 4-8-7 record with a 2-3-5 record in conference play. Prior to her arrival to Cincinnati in 2023, she spent six seasons at UAB and has amassed a career record of 54-46-26
The Bearcats return their top three scorers in Laura Zemberyova, Ellie Flower and Megan Smith who combined for 10 of Cincinnati's 17 goals last year. Fran Stables also returns for the Bearcats as their top facilitator after leading her team with six assists in 2023.
