Griselda Revolorio recorded a new career high in saves on Thursday.
The Racers fell short in a tough battle with #19 Xavier Musketeers, 1-2, on Thursday at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky.
Following a scoreless first half, Murray State took the lead quick just five minutes after the second half kickoff. Sydney Etter scored a wide-open goal after a Breece Bass shot was deflected off the right post to put the Racers ahead in the 50th minute.
Six minutes later, Xavier's Emma Flick would hit the equalizer with a shot from just outside the left side of the box into the top right corner of the net. After a defensive fight between both programs for 24 minutes, the Musketeers would take their first lead of the match with a second goal from Flick in the 81st minute.
Griselda Revolorio notched a new career high with 12 saves on the day. The sophomore previously set a then-record of nine saves in the Racers' season opener at Cincinnati on August 15. Revolorio knocked away six saves in each half.
The Racers turn their attention to a road match with the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Sunday, August 25 at 1 p.m. CT at A-State Soccer Park in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Head Coach Matt Lodge on his team's performance:
"I am just so proud. They gave everything for 90 minutes. This is a loss that a coach is going to take personally, because I thought our back four was under a lot of pressure when it was 1-1, and I made the decision to add an extra one back there and I think it cost us the winner. So, this is one I'm going to take as a coaching lesson, but I think our girls gave everything they had. And all I did after the game was apologize to them for getting it wrong. But I think to go 1-0 up and really push them to time-wasting on corners [and] time-wasting on throw-ins--you know, I think that just speaks volumes about performance and the team we've got."
Â
Head Coach Matt Lodge on his team's mindset going into the next match:
"I think it'll show we can compete. I think, like we did at Cincinnati in the second half, I thought we did it today for close to 90 minutes. I think we're growing and learning every single time we play. Today was more of a defensive mindset. I think on Sunday for Arkansas State we've got to be more attacking-minded, and we'll work on that the next couple of days. I'm going to sit on this one for a little bit, but I think we've got to hang our heads on the performance and puff our chest out and get ready for Sunday to bounce back. It means nothing taking [Xavier] to the death if we don't take care of Arkansas State on Sunday."
