Racers Tennis Opens 2024 Fall Season At Austin Peay Invitational

Murray State begins the 2024-25 year as reigning Missouri Valley Conference champions.
The Murray State women's tennis team is slated to open the Fall 2024 season with a three-day tournament at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Competing in the tournament along with Murray State and Austin Peay are Western Kentucky, Alabama A&M and Cumberland University, who enters competition as a NAIA opponent.
The Racers begin the year as the reigning regular season and tournament champions of the Missouri Valley Conference. Head coach Jorge Caetano's team saw an undefeated season in conference play, securing the first tournament title for MSU since the 2015 season.
"We are very excited to kick off the season this weekend," Caetano said. "We have hit the ground running and are having some great practices. As always, our goal is to play our brand of tennis, which is aggressive and fearless. So, I can't wait to see our new players compete for the first time.
Although the Governors are the tournament host, Friday's matches are set to take place at the Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky due to expected inclement weather at Austin Peay's outdoor courts.
Saturday's and Sunday's location are to be determined based on inclement weather in the area.
