
Young Reaches 2,500 Career Points as Balanced Scoring Leads to Road Win

Murray State women's basketball had six players with nine or more points in win over SIU
Murray State women's basketball defeated Southern Illinois 93-69 on Thursday night at the Banterra Center in Carbondale, Illinois. Six Racers all scored nine or more points with Haven Ford and Katelyn Young each going for 22 points and 20 points, respectively. Young reached 2,500 career points in the contest on her 10th point of the game. Young becomes the first Racer in men's or women's basketball to surpass 2,500 career points.Â
Trinity White scored a season high 11 points to go with five rebounds as Ava Learn posted 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists. Freshman Braxcynn Baker reached double figures in scoring with 10 points as Briley Pena contributed nine points of her own.Â
The Racers dished out 25 assists as a team, with Ford leading the way with 10. It is the fifth time this season that the Racers have had more than 20 assists in a game. MSU continues to be one of the best three point shooting team's nationally, knocking down 13 three point attempts on the night.
The Racers now travel to Springfield, Missouri to take on Missouri State on Saturday.
