Racers Face Big 10 Foe at Illinois on Tuesday Morning

Murray State women's basketball is set to square off with Illinois at 11 am on Tuesday
Murray State women's basketball travels to Champaign, Illinois, to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini for a Tuesday morning non-conference matchup at the State Farm Center. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. CT.
The Racers enter the contest with a strong 2-1 record and are coming off a gritty 96-88 home win against Saint Louis. Junior guards Haven Ford and  Halli Poock continue to power the Murray State attack as Poock is averaging 19 points per game and Ford is scoring 12.3 points per contest. Forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks has been a major force in the paint, proving to be a consistent double-double threat while averaging 19 points.
Illinois comes into the contest with a 2-1 record and is looking to bounce back after a tough road loss at Oregon State. The Fighting Illini are led in scoring by sophomore forward Berry Wallace. Through her first two games this season, Wallace is averaging 24.3 points and eight rebounds per game.

The special 11 a.m. CT tip-off is part of Illinois' annual "Field Trip Day" promotion.

Last season, the Racers averaged an incredible 89.4 points per game, which ranked second nationally in scoring offense.

This game marks a continued challenging non-conference schedule for Murray State, which includes upcoming tournament matchups against George Mason and Boston College at the Daytona Beach Classic.

Illinois currently leads the all-time series between the two programs with a 2-0 record, winning the last matchup 84-52 back in 2018.
