Murray State women's basketball defeated UAB for their third win of the season
Murray St. survived a massive UAB third-quarter surge to secure a hard-fought 91-79 victory at the CFSB Center on November 22, 2025. The win improved Murray St.'s record to 4-2 on the season, while UAB dropped to 2-3.
The Racers opened the game dominating the first half, leading 29-19 after the first quarter and stretching the lead to 54-32 at halftime. UAB flipped the script in the third quarter, outscoring Murray St. 32-21, fueled by 63.64% shooting in the frame, to pull within 11 points (75-64) heading into the final frame. Murray St. was able to hold off the rally in the fourth quarter to seal the 12-point victory. The contest featured 6 ties and 2 lead changes.
Murray St.'s victory was largely fueled by a commanding near triple-double performance from Haven Ford, Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, and Keslyn Secrist, who each recorded a double-double. Ford posted a team-high 24 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, while pulling down 12 rebounds and dishing out a team-high 6 assists. Currie-Jelks added 20 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting. Secrist rounded out the trio with 17 points and 10 rebounds, thanks in part to a strong 10-of-12 performance at the free-throw line.
For UAB, Monae' Duffy had a dominant performance inside, scoring a game-high 26 points on 13-of-18 shooting and securing a double-double with 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Eleecia Carter provided a spark with 16 points, hitting two three-pointers. Guard Journey Armstead contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds, and a game-high 8 assists. Despite a strong overall shooting percentage of 45.5% (35-77) for the game, the Blazers struggled from the free-throw line, finishing 6-of-11 (54.5%).
