The Racers push their home winning streak to six with victory over former league foe

Murray State Racers used second half blitz to come away with an 84-52 win over the Morehead State Eagles at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers (6-3) who won for the a sixth-straight time at home, host the Bellarmine Knights Saturday at 2 p.m. on a day when the 1999-00 team will be honored and the No. 31 jersey of Murray State Hall of Famer, Isaac Spencer, will be retired.

For the first time since 2022, the Racers put six in double-figure scoring with 14 from Javon Jackson, 12 from Fred King and 10 each by Roman Domon, Mathis Courbon and KJ Tenner. Doman had 10 rebounds to get his first career double-double at Murray State.

The first half was a back and forth affair with five ties and seven lead changes, before the Racers finished the half on a 7-2 run to take a 33-28 lead at the intermission.

The Racers hit their stride with a 51-24 second half, which included a 20-2 run that featured four-straight made 3-pointers for a 59-36 lead with 9:08 remaining. MSU's biggest lead of 34 points came with 2:27 left.

Game Notes

The Racers didn't allow a double-digit scorer to Morehead State until Davion Cunningham reached 10 points with 1:21 remaining.
The game marked the Racers' third straight game with double-digit offensive rebounds with a season-high 20 that led to 18 second-chance points.
The Racers missed nine-straight 3-point tries in the first half, but rebounded to hit 6-of-14 in the second half to end the game at 10-of-31 for 32 percent.
Brayden Shorter pushed his 3-point streak to six-straight games.
Roman Domon's latest free throw streak was halted at 15 tonight, after having a streak of 13 earlier this season.
The best free throw streak for the Racers this season was 21 by Javon Jackson.
The Murray State record of 39 in a row was set by MSU Hall of Famer, Jonathan Stark in 2027-18.
Domon scored his first double-double as a Racer with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
MSU put six players in double-figure scoring for the first time since 2022 when the Racers routed Austin Peay at home with KJ Williams (25pts), Tevin Brown (13), DJ Burns (11), Justice Hill (11), DaQuan Smith (11) and Trae Hannibal (10). (02-17-22).
MSU leads the MVC and are No. 18 nationally in bench scoring with 39.1ppg coming into this game and they had 34 points against the Eagles.
The Racers have five second half scores of 50 points or more this season in games against: Omaha, MVSU, Nicholls, GWU and Morehead State.
Today marked the first time the Racers hosted a former MSU coach who was a visiting head coach for the first since MSU Hall of Famer, Coach Tevester Anderson, brought Jackson State to the CFSB Center in 2019.
Former MSU assistant Jonathan Mattox brought his Morehead State Eagles to town and received a nice ovation at the start of the game when introductions were made.
