Four in a Row Away from Home, Racers Handle Governors

Murray State defeated Austin Peay 74-56 in Clarksville on Saturday
Murray State women's basketball extended its winning streak to five games with a convincing 74-56 victory over Austin Peay at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee. The win improved the Racers to 7-2 on the season.
The Racers took control early, jumping out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 35-22 by halftime. Murray St. maintained its double-digit cushion throughout the second half, with both teams scoring 16 points in the third quarter before the Racers pulled away with a 23-point fourth quarter. The win marked a dominant performance for Murray St., which led for the majority of the contest.
Sharnecce Currie-Jelks was dominant once again, recording her seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 29 points and 12 rebounds. She was efficient from the floor, shooting 9-of-14, and capitalized at the free-throw line, hitting 10-of-12 attempts. Halli Poock added 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting and dished out a game-high 6 assists. Haven Ford finished with 11 points and six rebounds,  while Briley Pena knocked down three three pointers for nine points on the day.
- Sharnecce Currie-Jelks posted her seventh double-double of the season with 29 points and 12 rebounds.
- With seven double-doubles on the year, Currie-Jelks is tied for the national lead.
- The forward leads the MVC in scoring at 21.7 ppg and is second in rebounding with 10.8 rpg. She also eads the Valley in field goal percentage at .565
- Halli Poock was highly efficient, scoring 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
- The Racers outrebounded the Governors 36-33.
- Murray St. converted 19-of-21 on free throw attempts
