Murray State wins series opener versus Little Rock in come from behind effort

Murray State jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, thanks in part to two RBI double from Luke Mistone.

Dustin Mercer also provided an RBI single in the first as part of a 4-4 afternoon for the senior out of Weddington, N.C. Mercer added another RBI single in the fourth.

The Racers fell behind in the sixth inning but rallied to load the bases in the 8th inning. With Dan Tauken at the plate, Jackson McCoy scored the tying run on a wild pitch to make it 8-8. Later in the inning with Will Vierling at the plate, Dustin Mercer scored to give the Racers a 9-8 lead as Little Rock pitcher Preston Davis threw a live ball into the dugout.

Jack Wajda, a first year Racer from Mekona, Ill., earned the win for MSU. The redshirt sophomore fired three innings in relief with three strikeouts earning the win for Murray State.
