Time To Decide Champions at MVC Indoors in Chicago

The Racers compete Sunday and Monday at the Missouri Valley Conference indoor finals
After a winter season that has revealed greatness, the Murray State women's track & field team competes at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships Sunday and Monday at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago.
The Racers have the top spot in the MVC in the 400M, 800M and 4X400 Relay and all of them involve Kayla Bell. The senior from Lynwood Illinois has the top time of 52.84 in the 400M just ahead of Bradley's Aiyah Davis and Racer teammate Chelby Melvin. Bell hopes to challenge the Murray State record of 52.67 by Stephanie Saleem in 1990. Bell has the MSU 800M record from the meet at Vanderbilt (Feb. 16) at 2:02.99. Murray State's 4X400M Relay has the top time in the Valley and the MSU record at 3:35.54. The quartet is made up of sisters, Chelby and Cheyenne Melvin, Simone Joseph and Bell.
The Racers were voted fourth in the pre-event poll of the MVC head coaches, with Indiana State, Illinois State and Northern Iowa making up the Top-3 in the annual prediction on how the event will unfold once it begins Sunday in Chicago.
