Flames Too Much for Racers

Murray State fell to UIC 79-70 on Friday Night
Murray State women's basketball fell to UIC 79-70 on Friday night in Chicago, Illinois. The Racers all-time leading scorer continued her dominant run of games with 25 points in the contest and moved into the top 40 on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list.Â
Young was joined by the sophomore duo of Halli Poock and Haven Ford as the Racers highest scorers against the Flames as Poock finished with 17 and Ford had 14. Ford led MSU with six assists and six rebounds.Â
The Flames pulled out to at 26-16 lead after the first quarter and were able thwart the Racers comeback attempt by winning the rebounding battle 38-23 and forcing the Racers to shoot just 27 percent from behind the three point line.Â
Young, Poock, and Ford all rank inside the top 10 in the Missouri Valley Confernce in scoring this season with Young leading the league at 20.6 points per game. Murray State continues their road swing on Sunday with a trip to Valparaiso.
