Racers Split Doubleheader with Southern Indiana Sunday

Murray State takes two out of three in series versus the Screaming Eagles
In the first leg of the doubleheader the Racers won 17-6. MSU logged 13 hits in the contest.
Jonathan Hogart tied Will Vierling for the team lead in home runs when he launched his sixth homer of the season, a lead off home run in the first inning. The senior from Madisonville, Ky., logged three hits in the contest. Dan Tauken also went deep for the Racers. The senior from N.Y. launched a two shot in the third.Â
Every starter for Murray State recorded at least one base hit. Murray State also tallied a pair of extra base hits from Dom Decker and another from Luke Mistone.
On the mound, Isaac Silva, the senior from N.M., improved his record to 3-0 with 4.1 innings pitched. Harper McLendeon recorded his third save of the season to close out the win.
Murray State dropped the second game of the doubleheader 8-7 in eleven innings.
Luke Mistone recorded two hits including a two RBI that gave the Racers a first inning lead. The Racers lead 3-0 after the first but fell behind 4-3 in the fifth.
Jackson McCoy hit a solo home run to tie the game in the sixth.
The Racers trailed again headed to the ninth inning before Will Vierling hit a game tying single in the ninth.Â
The Racers took the lead in the 11th but came up short after a USI rally in the bottom of the 11th.
With the two games the Racers are now 12-4 in 2025.
Murray State will next travel to Lexington Tuesday before the start of Missouri Valley Conference play Friday.
