Racers Drop Middle Game Against Western Illinois

Murray State falls to Western Illinois on Saturday.
The Murray State Baseball team fell to Western Illinois 5-3 Saturday afternoon.

Murray State got out to a 3-0 start in the first inning thanks to a triple from Dustin Mercer and home run from Carson Garner. Â
Â
The Leathernecks tallied two runs in the fourth before tying the game 3-3 in the fifth on a Liam Bushey RBI single.
Â
WIU took the lead 4-3 in the seventh on a single from Kyree Alexander and added insurance in the eighth to make it 5-3.
Â
The Racers are now 8-2 on the 2025 season.

Prior to this afternoon, the Murray State Baseball team held senior day ceremonies for the Class of 2025. MSU honored 10 seniors: Reed Braundmeier, Nico Bermeo, Jacob Ehling, Kane Elmy, Carson Garner, Jonathan Hogart, Matt Parenteau, Isaac Silva, David Stokely and Dan Tauken.

The rubber match between the Racers and the Leathernecks is set for Sunday at 1PM.
