Murray, Ky. – The Racers are set to take on the Drake Bulldogs on Sunday, seeking their first Missouri Valley Conference victory of the season.
Murray State (5-3-3) has defended home turf well in 2025, boasting a 4-1-1 record at Cutchin Field. Drake has also found success on the road, going 2-1-3 away from Des Moines.
Despite opening conference play with back-to-back ties, the Racers enter Sunday on a six-match unbeaten streak, their longest since winning six straight from Aug. 20 to Sept. 14, 2017.
Junior forward Breece Bass has led the Racers in every major offensive category this season. She has scored in back-to-back matches for the first time in her career and enters Sunday with four goals and three assists. Bass is aiming to become the first Racer to record at least five goals and five assists in a season since Miyah Watford accomplished the feat in 2019.
Drake (4-3-4) began the 2025 campaign as the MVC preseason favorite and currently ranks third in the conference in RPI at No. 163 nationally.
Sophomore Ella Balsley has paced the Bulldogs' attack, scoring four goals across their last six matches.
Drake plays a physical brand of soccer, earning 22 yellow cards this season—more than double Murray State's total of 10.
Sunday marks the sixth all-time meeting between Murray State and Drake. The series is currently tied at 2-2-1, with the Racers still looking for their first win over the Bulldogs since joining the MVC.
