Murray State fell to Northern Iowa to snap their 14 game winning streak
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Halli Poock scored a game-high 21 points, but Murray State could not overcome a sharp-shooting Northern Iowa squad, falling 89-74 at the McLeod Center on Friday night.
The Racers (16-3, 7-1 MVC) saw their 14-game winning streak slip as the Panthers (10-8, 6-2 MVC) shot a blistering 60.7% from the field and 72.2% from three-point range. UNI established control early with a 24-19 first-quarter lead and never trailed again.
Sharnecce Currie-Jelks added 17 points and seven rebounds for Murray State, while Haven Ford chipped in 11 points. Keslyn Secrist led the Racers on the boards with 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.
The Panthers were led by Jenna Twedt's 20 points, while Taryn Wharton and Kaylynn Janes each contributed 15. Despite outscoring UNI 42-36 in the paint, the Racers struggled from the perimeter, connecting on just 7 of 26 long-range attempts.
