Murray State Athletics, in partnership with Learfield, the leading media and technology company powering college athletics, announced today that Dave Winder has been named Director of Broadcasting. Winder will lead the Murray State Sports Network as the department continues to expand its broadcast footprint and content offerings through its recently announced 10-year partnership with Learfield.
The 2025-26 academic year marks Winder's 25th season with Murray State Athletics and his 21st in athletics communications. He currently serves as Associate Athletics Director for Communications and oversees Racer Radio, television production, and Racers Podcast Central.
"Dave Winder has played an integral role in telling the stories of Murray State Athletics dating all the way back to his playing days with Racer Baseball," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "We are thrilled that he is stepping into this new role as the 'Voice of the Racers' and will continue to narrate the incredible history of our sports programs for many years to come."
"In his new role, Dave will work closely with Learfield to elevate Murray State's live game broadcasts and storytelling across radio and digital platforms," said Mike Haake, Vice President of Sports Properties at Learfield. "His passion and dedication to Murray State makes him the perfect leader to help deliver consistent, engaging content that deepens fan connection across all sports."
A Murray State graduate, Winder earned his degree in radio-television in 1987. After returning to his alma mater in 2001, he has held a variety of positions including serving as the primary communications contact for Murray State men's basketball since 2005, a role in which he supported seven NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure. He also assisted in the department's transition into the Missouri Valley Conference and most recently served as communications lead for the 2025 baseball team that advanced to the College World Series.
"I want to thank Mike Haake and Nico Yantko for this incredible opportunity," said Winder. "Murray State has been a meaningful part of my life for 42 years- first as a student-athlete in the baseball program and the last 25 years as a dedicated member of the MSU Athletics staff. It has been a true honor to build a career at my alma mater, and I am looking forward to carrying on the storied legacy of Racer Radio."
