Poock, Currie-Jelks, Ford, and Turner were all voted among the MVC's best for 2025-26
Following a historic regular season, the Murray State women's basketball team dominated the Missouri Valley Conference postseason honors, with Halli Poock named Player of the Year, Sharnecce Currie-Jelks selected as Newcomer of the Year and Rechelle Turner voted Coach of the Year.
Poock, a junior guard, took the league's top individual honor after leading the conference in scoring. In 20 conference games, she averaged 25.5 points per game and shot 45.3 percent from the field. For the full season, Poock started all 31 games and averaged 22.2 for the season. The Waterloo, Iowa native ranks 11th nationally in scoring and scored 20 or more points in 17 of the 20 MVC games this season. Her 688 points in the campaign rank 13th all-time in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Currie-Jelks earned Newcomer of the Year honors by establishing herself as one of the premier post players in the Valley. She is the only MVC player to average a double-double at 18.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest. She leads the nation in double-doubles this season with 24 and is closing in on the MSU single season rebounding record, currently with 364.
Turner was named Coach of the Year for the first time in her MSU career after leading Murray State to the best winning percentage in the program's MVC history and an outright MVC regular season title. Under her leadership, the Racers featured the league's most prolific offense, averaging 85.8 points per game and set a program record for wins in a season, currently at 28-3. The championship campaign marks the second consecutive under Turner's guidance after leading the Racers to the MVC regular season and tournament titles a season ago.Â
Additionally, Poock and Currie-Jelks were named All-MVC First Team while junior guard Haven Ford picked up Second Team and All-Defense honors. Ford started all 31 games and proved to be one of the league's most versatile players, averaging 17.0 points and leading the team with 43 steals while dishing out 115 assists on the season.
The Racers will be back in action at the Credit Union 1 MVC Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday at 12 p.m. CT in Coralville, Iowa.
