Murray, Ky. – Fresh off a weekend sweep of Bradley and victories in its first six Missouri Valley Conference games, the Murray State baseball team travels to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to take on former Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri in a midweek matchup.
The Racers are off to their best start in conference play since joining the MVC. It also marks the program's best start to a conference slate since 1991, when Murray State began 10-0.
Luke Mistone has continued to anchor the offense, leading the MVC with 31 RBIs. Conner Cunningham has also been prolific, batting .481 over the last two weeks with 12 runs driven in, four doubles, a triple and a home run. Cunningham drew six walks during that span and struck out only once.
Murray State's offense has been remarkably productive this season. The team has scored 232 runs, leading the MVC by 34 runs over second-place Illinois State.
The Racers look to keep their bats hot after scoring 43 runs across three games last weekend. They face a SEMO team that leads the OVC in runs, home runs, hits and RBIs.
Murray State already has experience at Capaha Field this season, having swept a three-game weekend series against Butler there in February.
Murray State and Southeast Missouri share a storied history; Tuesday's game marks the 138th all-time meeting between the programs. SEMO holds a 73-63-1 lead in the all-time series and a 40-24 record against the Racers in Cape Girardeau.
SEMO enters Tuesday's contest with a 20-8 record. The Redhawks are currently 58th in RPI, second in the OVC and 22nd in the 11.7 mid-major poll.
The Racers and Redhawks take the field at 6 p.m. CT at Capaha Field. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
