Murray State Athletics has received a generous $250,000 donation from Drs. Philip and Melissa Chapman Foundation as part of the department's Leading The Pack capital campaign, it was announced on Wednesday.
Â
The gift has secured the naming of the Gate C Lobby within the CFSB Center, the home of Racer Basketball, as the Drs. Philip and Melissa Chapman Foundation Gate C Lobby.
Â
"We are deeply thankful to the Chapman Family for their extraordinary $250,000 investment," Murray State University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. "Their generosity demonstrates a profound belief in the transformative power of higher education and athletics. Gifts like this create meaningful opportunities that will impact generations of Racers, and we are honored to partner with the Chapman Family as we continue leading the pack and building a brighter future for our university."
"The Chapman Family's remarkable $250,000 commitment reflects the passion and belief that so many of our supporters have in the future of Murray State Athletics," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "Their generosity strengthens the momentum of the Leading The Pack campaign and provides meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes to excel in competition, in the classroom and in life. We are deeply thankful for their partnership and the lasting impact they will have on Racer Athletics."
Â
Murray State Athletics has raised $44.25 million dollars in support of new facilities, initiatives and championship resources, a total that has been made possible by 16, seven-figure gifts.
Â
"Education changed the trajectory of our lives, and we believe investing in students is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in the future. We have been blessed with opportunities throughout our lives and careers, and we believe those blessings carry a responsibility to serve others and help create opportunities for the next generation," Dr. Philip Chapman said. "Murray State University has a long tradition of developing leaders, strengthening communities, and transforming lives through education. Melissa and I are honored to support an institution that has had such a profound impact on our region. It is our hope that this gift helps future Racers pursue their goals, realize their potential, and use their talents to make a positive difference in the lives of others."
Â
The $44.25 million is committed towards the department's bold, comprehensive $100 million fundraising campaign, Leading The Pack, which was created to further position itself for the future by investing in student-athlete success and wellness, revenue share and competitive resources and world-class facilities.
