Generous contribution continues to build moment through the Vision For Excellence Fund
Murray State Athletics has received a transformational investment of $125,000 from Drs. Bob and Joyce Hughes, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The gift counts towards the Vision For Excellence Fund as part of the department's Leading The Pack capital campaign that the Racers publicly announced in March. The campaign supports numerous strategic initiatives, capital progress and revenue share.
Â
"We are thankful for the Hughes Family and their generous $125,000 investment in the future of our university," Murray State University President Ron Patterson said. "Their generosity reflects a deep belief in our mission and a commitment to creating life-changing opportunities for our students. We are proud to partner with visionary supporters like the Hughes family as we continue to lead the pack in everything we do."
"This remarkable $125,000 gift is a powerful example of the belief our supporters have in our vision and the momentum behind the Leading The Pack campaign," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "We are incredibly grateful to the Hughes Family for their transformational commitment to the future of Murray State Athletics and the lasting impact their generosity will have on our student-athletes.
Â
Over the last two years, Murray State has raised a school-record $43 million dollars in support of new facilities, initiatives and championship resources. That total was made possible by 15, seven-figure gifts, which also amounts to the most in department history.
Â
"Joyce and I strongly support Murray State Athletics University and all of their endeavors to improve the quality of life in Kentucky," Dr. Bob Hughes said. "We are pleased with the momentum behind Racer Athletics and are excited to play a part in its future success."
Â
The $43 million is committed towards the department's bold, comprehensive $100 million fundraising campaign, Leading The Pack, which was created to further position itself for the future by investing in student-athlete success and wellness, revenue share and competitive resources and world-class facilities.
