Jewuan Long is in his second season with Murray State Basketball as graduate assistant manager.
Only a short time removed from an outstanding career as a Racer, Long is a rising talent in the coaching ranks.
Long has a hand in just about every area of the MSU program including academics, camps, player development, film exchange and practice planning.
As a player for the Racers from 2007-12 and was one of the first recruits that Coach Billy Kennedy brought to Murray State. After Kennedy left for Texas A&M in 2011, Long played his senior season for Coach Steve Prohm before coming on board as a staff member in 2013.
Long was a leader on MSU’s historic 31-2 squad in 2011-12 that captured the nation’s attention in starting the season 23-0 as the final undefeated team in NCAA D-I. Long was part of the team that spent 13 weeks in the national rankings, including the program’s first ranking in the top-10. Long had his best season as a senior when he was a 43 percent shooter from 3-point range. Known as a lock-down defender, Long was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year.
Long came to Murray State from Liberty Tech High School in Jackson, Tenn., where he won state championships as a junior and senior. He was named Mr. Basketball in 2007 and finished as Liberty’s all-time leading scorer with more than 1,500 points.
Long is a 2012 graduate from Murray State with a degree in civil engineering technology. He is working toward a master’s from Murray State in occupation safety & health.
