Before MSU: Had a standout career at Melody Christian Academy where he was coached by Mike Rains ... As a senior in the 2009-10 season, he scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds per game and had an average of eight blocked shots per game ... As a junior in 2008-09, he scored 19.5 points per game, grabbed 12 rebounds and recorded eight blocks per game ... One of his most impressive games came during his junior season against Florida 3A State Tournament runner-up Orlando Jones HS where he had a triple-double with 10 points, 21 rebounds and 19 blocked shots ... At the end of his junior season, he was was the MCA Player of the Year and tournament MVP in his conference as MCA advanced to the semifinals of the National Christian School Athletic Association National Tournament in Nashville, Tenn.
