Racers Come From 12-Points Down For 62-55 Win At UAB

The Murray State Racers moved their record to 4-0 when they erased a 12-point deficit and posted a 62-55 win at UAB in Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala., Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 31-28 at the half, MSU fell behind 49-37 at the 10:20 mark when the Blazers completed a 9-1 run. MSU finished the game on a 25-8 run to get the win and their best start since the 2003-04 team started 8-0.
The Racers took the lead for good at the 5:06 mark when Isaiah Canaan fed Donte Poole for his first basket of the game and a 52-51 lead.
MSU stretched their lead to 57-51 after a three-pointer from Poole and a steal and basket by Brandon Garrett with 3:00 remaining. MSU put the game away with: 49 left when Canaan made a driving layup for a 59-51 lead.
Canaan led the Racers with 19 points, while Ivan Aska added 18 and seven rebounds. Poole's 11 points all came in the second half.
MSU won the battle of the boards against UAB 39-34 and came up with 10 steals.
Murray State travels to Anchorage for the Great Alaska Shootout where they will face the host UAA Wednesday in a 9:30 p.m. central time tip from Sullivan Arena.
