The Series
The meeting at the YUM! Center will be the 23rd in the all-time series that dates back to 1972, with the Cardinals leading the series 14-8. However, the teams have not played each other since the 2004-05 campaign when UL earned a 97-45 win in Louisville. The last time that the Racers earned a win in the series was Jan. 28, 1982. The Cardinals are one of four teams that MSU has faced from the Big East, going 8-18 against the conference.
First Double-Double of the Year
Senior Kayla Lowe recorded the team's first double-double of the season at Alabama A&M, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The last double-double for MSU was tallied by Jessica Winfrey (March 2, 2011) against Austin Peay.
Robinson Reemerging
Junior Mariah Robinson broke a 32 game scoring streak against Mid-Continent and then failed to record a point at Ball State. When she got back on the scoreboard at Alabama A&M she made up for lost time, recording a season-best 25 points, including a perfect 6-of-6 mark from the charity stripe. The Beaver Dam, Ky., native added a team-high 16 points at Saint Louis, including a 3-of-3 mark from the charity stripe.
Three Point Season
The Racers have made 51 triples in the first six games of the season, 21.9 percent of the school record for the most three's in a season (232). MSU has a season-high of 15 made in a single game (vs. Mid-Con) and has recorded the same or more triples than its opponents in every game this season.
Going for No. 500/50
The Racers are currently 491-631-2 in their 47th season of basketball. With nine more wins the team will record its 500 victory. The 500th win for MSU would make the Racers the sixth team in the conference to record over 500 wins. MSU would join Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Southeast Missouri, SIU Edwardsville and Tennessee Tech in the club. With three more wins head coach Rob Cross will also reach his 50th career win.
Burgess OVC Newcomer of the Week x Two
Red-shirt sophomore Erica Burgess was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second consecutive week, Nov. 22. The Memphis, Tenn., led the team with 18.0 points per game last week. She tallied a career-best six steals and nine field goals against Ball State. Burgess also added five steals against Mid-Continent and shot 42.5 percent from the floor over the two games.
High Pressure Defense
The new high-pressure defense that the Racers are playing this season has forced three of their five opponents into 30+ turnovers. This is the first time since at least 1996-97, when individual game stats are available, that the team has forced more than one opponent into 30+ turnovers. The most forced during that span was 39 (Nov. 18, 2009) by Mid-Continent. So far this season MSU has forced Mid-Con into 33, Ball State into 32 and Evansville into 31. Overall the Racers have forced 151 turnovers and have committed just 95.
Jessica's Missing for the Season
Both of the Racers players named Jessica, Jessica Winfrey and Jessica Holder, will miss the 2011-12 campaign due to injury. Winfrey was a key starter for the Racers last year, while Holder was sidelined for most of the 2010-11 campaign due to injury as well.

Murray State women's basketball was ranked No. 27 in the NCAA DI last season for home attendance.
