The Murray State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Chattanooga at Baylor School, indoors due to rain. The Racers (1-6) played all six singles competitions first and then did not play the doubles matches since the match was already decided.

“Arthur Valle and Luke Milicevic played well today,” said head coach Mel Purcell. “We had a couple of positive things today and I hope to see more in the matches that we have coming up since we are playing a lot of matches in the next eight days.

The lone win for MSU came from freshman Arthur Valle at No. 5 singles. Valle defeated William Disterdick (6-1, 6-1). Senior Luka Milicevic forced his singles match into three sets against Trent Cobb. Cobb earned a 6-2 win in the first set before Milicevic rebounded to take the second set 6-2. The final set was won by Cobb 6-1.

“I am disappointed because I thought we would play better,” Purcell said. “But when we were forced to move inside it favored them. We just have to get over the loss and head to Jacksonville and try to get an OVC win.”

The Racers will continue their four match road trip tomorrow in Jacksonville, Ala., where they will play their first Ohio Valley Conference match of the season against Jacksonville State. The match is set to start at noon at the JSU Tennis Courts.
