Men’s Tennis Falls in OVC Opener

The Racers (1-7, 0-1 OVC) saw victories from freshman Arthur Valle at No. 5 singles and senior Renaldo Domoney at No. 4 singles. Valle was the first to finish his singles match, earning a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gustavo Holz. Domoney had a three-set marathon match. After dropping the first set 6-4, Domoney rebounded to earn the win with a 6-0, 12-10 mark over Igor Santos.
“Arthur Valle and Renaldo Domoney both played great matches today for us at No. 4 and No. 5 singles,” said head coach Mel Purcell. “I saw positive signs that will help us for the rest of the conference season.”
MSU dropped the doubles point, losing the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions. Domoney and senior Luka Milicevic earned a win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Nenad Marcec and Axel Sundberg, 8-6.
The Racers will remain on the road for two more matches before coming home to host three matches over Spring Break. MSU travels to Birmingham, Ala., for a Saturday, March 12 match against Samford starting at 10 a.m.
