Last season, MSU won the seires opener before rain stopped the second game after five innings with the score tied. The rain never let up on Sunday and forced that game to end in a tie.
Weekend Weather
A chance of rain is in the forecast for this weekend, but the delaying of the series one day may allow all three games to be played. They are calling for a 60% chance of rain on Sunday, with a 40% chance on Monday. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-60s both days.
Baseball Graduates
Three members of the 2011 baseball team will graduate on Saturday. Pitchers Jake Donze and Derek Hayden, along with outfielder Elliot Frey will play this weekend with a degree from Murray State.
Morehead Series Moved One Day
Due to a conflict with graduation, the series at Morehead State has been pushed back one day. The series will now have a doubleheader on Sunday, with a single game on Monday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. both days.
Tight Race For OVC Tourney
Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, 2.5 games separate third through eighth place in the standings. Head-to-head action down the stretch will determine which six teams make it to Jackson, Tenn.
Frey to Set Games Started Record
Senior Elliot Frey is set to become the school's all-time leader in career games started. He started every game this season, and 200 in his career. This weekend he will pass Tyler Pittman (202) and tie Brad Burns (203) for the all-time record. He has also appeared in 202 games, and is chasing the all-time record of 209 held by Pittman and Burns.
Frey and Noonan Near 200 Hits
Seniors Elliot Frey and Zach Noonan are closing in on a mileston as both players are nearing 200 hits for their careers. Frey enters the weekend with 198 career hits, while Noonan has 197. They are looking to become the ninth and 10th players to join the 200-hit club.
