Murray State soccer hits the road this weekend, traveling to Florida for a pair of games at the Dafeldecker Classic hosted by South Florida in Tampa, Fla.
The Racers are coming off of a two game weekend homestand split, picking up a 1-0 blanking of Troy before dropping a 2-1 decision against Bellarmine.
Veronika Pribyslavska gave MSU the advantage last Thursday, picking up an attempted pass that was blocked by Jenelle Cunningham near midfield while holding off a pair of Troy defenders before finding the right side of the net for the first goal of the season.
Cunningham earned her second assist of the week two days later, knocking a loose ball in the box to Shauna Wicker who put in a header with three minutes remaining against Bellarmine.
"We need to recover from our last game, it was disappointing to see that we changed tactics from going against Troy to Bellarmine," head coach Beth Acreman said. "I'm looking for the girls to work on some of the things that we need to clean up going into these two very competitive games in Florida this week."
College of Charleston comes in to Friday's match after a 1-0 win against Winthrop. The Cougars have had four different goal scorers this season, having picked up a 3-1 win in the season opener against Charleston Southern followed by a 1-0 loss against Kennesaw State.
"It's a good time in the year to go down to Florida and get tested," Acreman said. "College of Charleston and USF are going to be extremely athletic, well-organized and well coached, and it's really going to test our team physically and mentally, but I think we're ready for a competitive weekend."
The hometown Bulls are coming off a 9-0 drubbing of Alabama A&M. They also earned a 2-1 win against Indiana after suffering a 4-1 defeat in the first game of the season against nationally-ranked Central Florida. Demi Stokes and Chelsea Klotz lead the dangerous offensive attack with two goals each this season. They defeated Murray State last season in the first meeting between the two schools, scoring the first two goals of the game as they held off the Racers in a 4-2 win.

"South Florida is very dangerous in their attack," Acreman said. "On defense we need to stay in position when they come forward with the ball. We've learned a lot from these past two games leading into this weekend and I look to see us put it together when we go down there."
