The Murray State Racers take on the Evansville Purple Aces in a 1:05 p.m. tip Saturday at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
MSU (6-1) won its third straight game Tuesday in a 76-54 at home over Bethel on Tuesday. MSU has won three straight since suffering their only loss of the season to Colorado (Nov. 18) at the Charleston Classic. The Aces (5-3) have won five of their last six including a blowout home win Wednesday 94-68 over Miami (OH). The Aces are 4-1 at home in their brand new Ford Center that is only in its second season.
MSU's school-record road winning streak is on the line at the Ford Center. MSU's streak of 14 straight wins is the longest streak in 88 years of Racer Basketball. MSU hasn't lost on the road since March 15, 2011 at Missouri State in the NIT.
The three-point line could be a major part of this game as the Aces were 14-of-18 from three-point range against Miami. For the season, Evansville is hitting 38 percent while the Racers are among the best is the nation (18th in NCAA) in giving only 26 percent to opponents.
This game is the 33rd meeting in the series that MSU leads 22-10 including a win the last time they met at MSU in the BracketBuster game that the Racers won 72-47. MSU makes its first trip to Evansville since 2002.
MSU's All-America Isaiah Canaan is making a strong run at becoming the sixth member of the MSU 2000-Point Club and is 11th on MSU's all-time scoring list with 1,524 points. Canaan needs 17 three-point baskets to catch all-time MSU leader Frank Allen who had 251 from 1989-93.
Ed Daniel is making his own bid for greatness as he enters the Evansville game with five straight double-doubles. During the five-game run, Daniel is scoring 18.6 points per game and pulling down 13.6 rebounds. He also has nine blocked shots and seven steals.
Saturday's game at the Ford Center marks the first Racer TV Network network broadcast of the basketball season. Time Warner cable subscribers can see the game on channel 16, while Mediacom carries the game on channel 23 and 97. Murray Electric carries the Racers on channel 18 and Comcast on channel 17.
