Tennis Set for Fall Regionals in Tennessee

Murray State's men's tennis team travels to Knoxville, Tenn. for the 2013 USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Tournament. Action begins Friday, Oct. 11, with the Championship rounds concluding Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Tournament is hosted by the University of Tennessee for the second time in three years.
Coach Mel Purcell is taking four of his Racers to the tournament. Senior Adam Taylor will be joined by junior Max McLean and brothers Aleks Mitric and Nicholas Mitric.
All four Racers will start play in the round of 128. Max McLean and Nicholas Mitric get things started for the Racers at 1 p.m. Friday against David O'Hare of Memphis and Ryan Smith of Vanderbilt respectively. Taylor opens the tournament at 2:30 against Artem Tarasov of OVC rival Tennessee Tech and Aleks Mitric draws the 3 p.m. start against Daniel Hernandez of Lipscomb.
The men will also compete in doubles competition. Taylor and McLean battle the duo of Aaron Dujovna Mark Kovacs of Purdue while Nicholas and Aleks Mitric take on Hayden Joblin and Ricardo Pineda of Wright State.
The tournament will host a number of teams including Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Purdue, Louisville, Xavier, Kentucky, Memphis and Indiana as well as OVC schools Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Tenneesee Tech, Austin Peay and Belmont.
For Murray State it is their second tournament of the fall. The Racers competed at the Southern Intercollegiate Tournament in Georgia back in September and conclude their fall portion at the Kenlake-Murray State Invitational in November.
