Racers Drop 80-62 Defeat To Middle Tennessee

The Murray State Racers dropped an 80-62 defeat at home Tuesday to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
Dexter Fields led the way with 12 points with Tyler Rambo and Cameron Payne tossing in 10 points each. Jarvis Williams had 10 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
Trailing at the half 38-24, MSU started the second half with a Payne to Williams alley oop from mid-court and Fields followed with a 3-pointer for a 5-0 run and it cut the MTSU lead to 38-29 with 18:43 left.
MTSU pushed the lead back to 55-37 with 12:59 remaining. The Racers cut the lead to 16 at the 4:02 mark but never got closer.
In the first half, the Racers broke out on top 10-9 on a jumper by Payne at the 15:24 mark.
The Racers found themselves down seven with 8:00 left when Rambo made a baseline drive and dunk and C.J. Ford hit a fast break runner to cut the MTSU lead to 25-22 at the 6:20 mark.
The Racers now get ready for a Saturday road game at Saint Mary's in Moraga, Calif. CSS and ESPN3 will air the game live at 10 p.m. Central Time. The Racers will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday in Murray with a practice and a team meal. They bus to Nashville and fly out to the Bay Area on Friday.
