Racers Set to Host Margaret Simmons Invitational

The Murray State track and field squad will be hosting its lone home meet of the season on Saturday as the Racers will host the first annual Margaret Simmons Invitational.
Five schools, including two OVC opponents will be making the trek to Murray. Jacksonville State, Lane, Lipscomb, Kentucky Wesleyan and UT Martin will be competing with the Racers. In all, 38 Racers will be competing in 17 different events on Saturday.
MSU will also have their men's cross country athletes competing during the men's races of the 800, 1,500, 3K and 3,000 steeplechase.
Fans can catch All-American Alexis Love run in the 100-meter dash. OVC indoor champions Sharda Bettis and Tonia Pratt will also be competing at the invite. Bettis will run in the 100-meter hurdles, while Pratt will participate in the discus, hammer throw and shot put.
The day will kick off with the field events at 9 a.m. The discus, javelin and hammer throw will be held at Hamilton Field. Running events will begin at 11 with the 4x100 meter relay. The meet will also be webstreamed live on the OVC Digital Network.
