Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth will provide analysis.Â
Fox Sports 1 will televise the game with Joe Davis and Jim Jackson on the call. The local channel location in the Purchase Area includes: Direct TV 219, Dish 150, Murray Electric 42, Time Warner 50, MediaCom 40, WK&T 75 and Comcast 76.
The Racers are 2-1 and have won back-to-back games after losing a thriller on opening night (Nov. 14) 77-74 to Houston. Since then, MSU won (Nov. 18) at Middle Tennessee 68-49 and beat Brescia 89-56 Thursday at home in a tune-up game. The Racers were especially good at MTSU in having a big part in 18 percent shooting for the Blue Raiders. MSU locked MTSU down in the first half and held them to 5-of-38 shooting. Jarvis Williams had his best game to date with 28 points and 12 rebounds to go with three blocked shots. His front court mate, Jonathan Fairell bounced back in the Brescia game with a confidence-building 15 points and 12 rebounds. Cameron Payne, the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year, is scoring at a 17.0 clip and has 15 assists and 14 steals in the first three games of the season.
The Racers have won their last two road games dating back to last season when they won in Springfield, Mo., in the first round of the CIT. MSU beat Missouri State 66-63 (March 19) and then won their first road game of this season Tuesday at Middle Tennessee.
Xavier is 3-0 after an 81-63 win over Stephen F. Austin at home. The Musketeers got 20 points from Matt Stainbrook and 12 assists from Dee Davis. Monday's game marks the fourth time MSU has met Xavier. All three previous meetings occurred in the 1950's. MSU's last trip to Ohio was last season when they made a visit to Dayton and the last time they played in the city of Cincinnati was 2005. The Racers nearly beat the Cincinnati Bearcats on opening night, but lost 79-75 in overtime. The Racers' head coach then was Mick Cronin, who  is in his ninth season coaching Xavier's crosstown rival.
After the Monday game with Xavier, the Racers spend Thanksgiving weekend in Nashville, Tenn., at the Challenge In Music City. This inaugural event sees the Racers play three games in three days at Municipal Auditorium, the same place the OVC plays its postseason tournament. The three-day event (Nov. 28-30), has the Racers meeting Portland (Nov. 28), Valparaiso (Nov. 29) and Drake (Nov. 30). Call the MSU ticket office at (270) 809-3000 or visit GoRacers.com for ticket information.
The next home game for the Racers is against Bethel (Dec. 3), prior to MSU hosting longtime rival Western Kentucky (Dec. 6).
