Racers Drop Midweek Match to Jacksonville St.

Playing their final two OVC games of the season this week, Murray State's men's tennis team fell to the first place Gamecocks of Jacksonville State. The Racers fell 6-0 on the road to lower their OVC record to 1-7 and 3-13 overall.

The teams started the afternoon playing for the doubles point, which JSU claimed after winning on courts two and three. The top team for MSU of Adam Taylor and Max McLean were ahead 4-3, but the match was unfinished with the point having been decided.

Both Taylor and McLean were involved in tight singles matches as well. Taylor came up short in set No. 1 against Pedro Wagner, 7-5 and dropped the following set 6-1.

McLean also went unfinished in his singles draw. He too came up just shy in the first set against Jaryd Reese 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) before his match was called.

Moving up a spot, David Hess fell 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 position.

The Racers will conclude their OVC schedule tomorrow afternoon at Austin Peay. First serve is set for 2 p.m. MSU will then travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats Sunday, April 13th in their regular season finale.
