Racers Set Records at Kentucky Invitational

Murray State track & field competed in their first meet of the year at Lexington, Kentucky when they competed in the Kentucky Invitational. Many Racers set career records and Murray State records at the meet.
Day Two:
The team competed  in 10 events including: 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 1-mile, 200m dash, 400m dash, 800m dash, 3000m dash, long jump, shot put, and triple jump.
60m
All four Racers that competed in the 60m dash, set either a career record or all-time Murray State record. Deja Rodgers finished in 7.83 and ranks 6th on the All-Time Bests list. Both Victoria Yocum and LaShea Shaw rank 10th and 11th on the All-Time Bests list when they finished in 8.03 and 8.04, respectively. Morgan McNeely set a personal best when she finished in 8.15.
60m hurdles
LaShea Shaw and Taylor McCammon find themselves sitting in 4th and 5th on the All-Time Bests list when they finished in 9.09 and 9.11, respectively. Kristen Higgins made her way to 9th on the All-Time Bests list after finishing in 9.41. Sarah Bindel finished in 10.13, while Ashley Conway finished in 10.47.
1-mile
After finishing the mile in 5:05.59, Brittany Bohn made her way into 6th on the All-Time Bests list. Ali Hester finished in 5:14.61, while Vallery Korir finished in 5:24.37. Rebekah Priddy ran the mile in 5:34.29, followed by Elizabeth Lay who finished in 6:09.75.
200mÂ
Rodgers was the first Racer to finish the 200m dash at the 25.82 mark. Morgan McNeely and Taylor McCammon finish in 27.04 and 27.24, respectively. Victoria Yocum and Anna Curlin crossed the finish line in respective times of 27.26 and 27.62.Â
400m
Anna Curlin ran the 400m in 1:00.58, with Taylor Adcock following closely behind at 1:00.76. Summer Wheeler finished in 1:02.31, while Raeven Wilson finished just minutes behind her at 1:05.89.Â
800m
Emma Gilmore found herself 9th on the All-Time Bests list when she finished in 2:18.06. Tia Weston set a personal best and ranks 11th on the All-Time Bests list finishing in 2:18.79. Natalie Pattin finished in 2:22.49, while Emani Griffin and Jacquelyn Thate finished in 2:26.00 and 2:30.01, respectively.Â
3000m
Abbie Oliver ran the 3000m in 10:50.05, with Caroline Grogan following closely at 10:50.72. Meagan Smith finished at 10:53.04, while Leah Krause finished just behind her at 10:54.19. Emily Flaherty crossed the finish line at 11:19.16.Â
Long Jump
Taylor McCammon jumped a distance of 4.99m, followed by Jill Jachino who went a distance of 4.96m.
Shot Put
Tonia Pratt continues to make her way onto the All-Time Bests list where she ranks 6th with a distance of 13.54m. Abbie Lukens threw a distance of 12.36m, with Darcy Sullivan and Lauren Miller throwing at 9.67m and 6.55m, respectively.Â
Triple Jump
Jachino jumped a distance of 11.03m in the triple jump.Â
Day One:
The team competed in both the distance medley event, and weight throw.Â
Weight Throw
Three Racers competed in the weight throw competition. Tonia Pratt finished seventh in the meet, while also making  her way into third on the Murray State All-Time Bests with a throw of 18.28m. Alexis Schleper and Brianna McCarthy finished with distances of 11.76m and 11.65m respectively.
Distance MedleyÂ
Two teams were part of the distance medley event that took place Friday night. Brittany Bohn, Emma Gilmore, Alicyn Hester, and Taylor Adcock finished fourth with a time of 12:13.96. Vallery Korir, Emani Griffin, Summer Wheeler, and Abbie Oliver finished the event in 7th with a time of 13:00.33. Both teams made it on the Murray State All-Time Bests list since the event was only part of competition for the Racers last season.Â
Racer track & field will compete next on Jan. 23 when they travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas to Arkansas State.
