The Murray State Racers are back at home for the first time since Nov. 17 when they host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs Saturday at 7 p.m. in the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis. Free video streaming is available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com
The Racers arrived home Thanksgiving day after they played three games in three days at the third annual Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.Â
The Racers won a pair of tightly contested games after trailing in each at halftime. MSU took on the Milwaukee Panthers (Nov. 23) for the first time and came away with a 59-55 win. Â MSU advanced to the semifinals where they defeated Pepperdine 59-55. That pushed the Racers into the championship game where they stayed with the Weber State Wildcats for much of the game before falling 75-59. The Racers had trouble on the boards in the three games and had some cold shooting (.413), while opponents shot .452.
Wayne Langston was honored with a spot on the Gulf Coast Showcase All-Tournament Team. His efforts produced 15 points and four rebounds per game. He was almost automatic in the post scoring 74 percent on 20-of-27 from the field.
Jeffery Moss surpassed the career 1,000 points mark while the Racers were on the road in Florida. He did it with a free throw in the late first half in the opening game against Milwaukee. Moss may not be the fastest to reach the mark, he is one of the consistent scorers to reach 1,000. Moss did it in his 102nd game. The fastest Racers of all time to reach 1,000 include Cameron Payne who did it last season in his 57th game.Â
Entering the game against Alabama A&M, the Racers have played four games in eight days. MSU heads out of town again (Dec. 3) to play the Houston Cougars before coming back home (Dec. 5) to meet Evansville.
The Racers are meeting a hot Alabama A&M team that is 4-0 and already has two wins over OVC teams: Southeast Missouri at home 74-56 and Jacksonville State 73-59 on the road.
