Bohn & Austin Win Events at Spring Classic

Murray State track and field team competed at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic in Carbondale, Illinois. The event produced two first place, 10 top three, 18 top five, and 35 top 10 finishes.

Kiara Austin finished in first in the triple jump with a distance of 12.13m.
Â
Brittany Bohn finished first in the finals of the 1500m with a time of 4:36.40 Vallery Korir also made it to the finals and finished in 4:44.33 which landed her in seventh.

Tonia Pratt competed in the discus, hammer throw, shot put and finished in the top five in all events. She threw 44.28m in the discus to finish third, while she finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.16m. She finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 13.80m

Brianna McCarthy threw 32.57m in discus, while Ashley Conway threw 12.04 in the shot put to finish in eighth.

Alexis Schleper notched a personal record in the discus when she threw a distance of 33.71m.

Taylor McCammon jumped 5.24m in the long jump to finish third, followed by Kiara Austin who jumped 5.14m to finish in fourth. Jolyta Henderson and Lauren Miller finished in sixth and seventh with respective jumps of 4.78m and 4.77m.

Caroline Grogan finished in third in the 5000m with a time of 18:13.07.

During the 800m finals, Emma Gilmore finished in third with a time of 2:16.11. Bohn followed her with a time of 2:18.46 for sixth place, while Vallery Korir finished in 2:22.24 and got eighth.

Deja Rodgers finished in fourth in the 200m with a time of 25.64. Ashley Conway reached a personal record in the 200m with a time of 26.98. A lot of Racers ran the 200m for the first time in an outdoor competition, like Summer Wheeler who finished in 26.66.

Chelo LeGrand finished 10th in the pole vault when she cleared 3.20m.

Jill Jachino jumped 11.01m in the triple jump to finish fourth.

Sydney Potts finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 36.23m. Alexis Schleper competed in the javelin for the first time and threw 7.35m.

Shaw set a new personal record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.98 which landed her in second. Taylor McCammon wasn't far behind when she got third with a time of 15.19. Austin got third with her time of 15.66.

Tia Weston competed in the 400m and got ninth with her time of 1:00.76. Morgan McNeely also finished in ninth with 12.89 in the 100m dash.

The 4x100m relay team which consisted of LaShea Shaw, Victoria Yocum, Deja Rodgers and Taylor McCammon came in third with a time of 48.59. One of the 4x400m relay teams which was Taylor Adcock, Tia Weston, Emma Gilmore, and Summer Wheeler finished in sixth with a time of 4:03.22. The other 4x400m relay team which included Raeven Wilson, Deja Rodgers, Ashley Conway and Taylor Horton finished in 10th with a time of 4:20.09.

The Racers will continue their outdoor season at the Margaret Simmons Invitational hosted by Murray State on Friday.Â
