The Murray State women's soccer team was defeated by IUPUI on Sunday at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis. A big second half for the Jaguars gave them the 3-0 win over the Racers.
The Racers fell to 4-3 this season, while IUPUI improved to 4-4-1.
It was a quiet first half for the Racers. Harriet Withers led all Racers with three shots taken in the first half. Marissa Burroughs followed closely behind with two shot attempts but the Racers couldn't seem to get the offense going.
In the second half, IUPUI broke a scoreless tie and got on the board first with a goal in the 58th minute. A minute later, IUPUI scored again with a goal that banked off the top corner of the goal frame. In the 86th minute, the Jaguars found the back of the net again and the goal sealed the Racers fate.
Withers ended the match leading the Racers in shot attempts for the match with four.
Defenders Racheal Foxley, Ali Critcher and Nyomi Devine played all 90 minutes on the defensive side for the Racers.
Shelby Haworth had four saves and allowed three goals.
Murray State starts Ohio Valley Conference play Thursday at Eastern Kentucky at 3 p.m. CT. The Racers will come play their last non-conference match against St. Louis at Cutchin Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. Live Steaming for the match against Saint Louis will be available courtesy of the OVC Digital Network.
