Six First Place Finishes for the Racers at EIU

The Murray State track and field team competed at the John Craft Invite in Charleston, Ill. The event produced six first place finishes and six personal records for the Racers.
Taylor McCammon, Chleo LeGrand, Tamdra Lawrence and Brittany Bohn had first place finishes for the Racers. McCammon placed first in the long jump as she jumped 5.20m (17'). LeGrand competed in a pole vault with a vault of 3.34m (10' 11.5"). Lawrence placed first in the 60 meters with a time of 7.69. She also placed first in the 200 meters with a time of 25.53. Bohn finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14. She also had a second place finish in the 600 meters with a time of 1:38.
The Racers competed in the distance meter relay for the first time this season. The team of Lawrence, Hester, Tia Weston, and Vallery Korir placed first with a time of 12:34. The team made up of Leah Krause, Heatherly Paschall, Taylor Adcock, and Meagan Smith finished third with a time of 13:00. The team of Caroline Grogan, Ida Mutai, Anna Curlin, and Rebekah Priddy finished fifth with a time of 13:25.
Six Racers set personal records at the meet. Jocelyn Payne set her new best in the 200 meters as she finished with a time of 26.49. Emily Evans set a new personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:37. Smith set a new personal best in the mile with a time of 5:18. Priddy also set a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:20. Kassidy Cook finished seventh in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 9.64. Christina Meinhardt finished seventh in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 12.28m (40' 3.5").
Deja Rodgers placed sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.90. McCammon finished eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 8.04. McCammon also fished eighth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.25.
Ali Hester finished second, behind Bohn, in the 600 meters with a time of 2:22. Emma Gilmore finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:23. Emani Griffin followed closely behind in fifth with a time of 2.23.
In the field events, Emily Heil finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 3.04m (9'11.75"). Jill Jachino placed third in the long jump (5.04m; 16' 6.25") and second in the triple jump (11.22m; 36' 9.5"). Brianna McCarthy finished fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 13.86m (45' 5.5").
The Racers travel to Pittsburg, Kansas for their meet at Pitt State on Friday.
