The Murray State Racers return home to play for the first time in 10 days when they welcome the Wright State Raiders to the CFSB Center for a 7 p.m. game Thursday. The game marks WSU's first appearance in Murray.
Froggy 103 (WFGE 103.7 FM) airs every MSU game with "Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley, in his 26th season calling the action. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides commentary. Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com has free online streaming audio and live free pay-per-view streaming video can be found at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Racers (5-7) are home after a road trip that took them to Mississippi and South Dakota and covered some 2,500 miles as they lost a pair of games at Ole Miss last Thursday 78-73 and in overtime Saturday at South Dakota State 88-84. MSU has lost three of their last four and has played some tough teams away from home. Apart from the close defeats last week, the Racers had a chance to win at Southern Illinois in overtime (Nov. 29) and in a one-point loss at Bowling Green (Nov. 21).
Wright State (8-4) comes to Murray after a 68-63 win Sunday at Kent State. The Raiders built a 17-point second half, saw it cut to two, but hung on to win. Mark Alstork led WSU with 25 points on 5-of-10 3-point shooting.
The series history with WSU is brief and the two have never met on the Racers' home floor. MSU played at WSU last season and suffered a 65-49 defeat. MSU lost a game with the Racers in Puerto Rico in 2008 and the first meeting was played at WSU in 1990. MSU is 16-12 against current Horizon League teams.
The Racers are playing their 19th season in the CFSB Center and enjoy one of the best home court advantages in all of college basketball. The Racers are 225-38 (.853) all-time in the building and 93-14 (864) in non-conference games. The Racers are 4-0 this season and have won their last six. In the last four seasons, MSU is 46-6 (.884) at home. MSU's all-time home win streak started in 1996 and was 47 in a row and the longest in the nation when it came to an end in 2000.
Jonathan Stark is coming off a 32-point game at South Dakota State where the junior guard tied the Racers' all-time single-game made 3-point record with nine. Stark was 11-of-18 from the field and 9-of-15 from the 3-point line. He added five rebounds, six assists and three steals. Stark is second in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring with 20.8 points per game, just behind Belmont's Evan Bradds at 21.3.
