Racers Tough Out Road Win At SIUE

Murray State Racers toughed out a 70-64 road win Thursday against the SIU Edwardsville Cougars at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Ill.
The Racers (13-12) moved into a first-place tie in the Ohio Valley Conference West Division at 7-5.
Wayne Langston tied his career-high 24 points, while Bryce Jones scored 17 and Justin Seymour 14.
MSU took a 40-27 halftime lead and pushed it to a game-high lead of 46-29 on a basket by Langston with 15:58 remaining.
SIUE dug in and made a run at MSU and got as close as 56-55 with 4:37 left.
The Racers also showed some late-game toughness and got some big plays. They also hit 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the final two minutes.
In the first half, the Racers started with hitting 6-of-9 from the field to grab a 21-16 lead with 8:16 before half. Bryce Jones and Justin Seymour hit a pair of threes to make a 6-0 run.
MSU won the rebound battle 24-20 as Damarcus Croaker led the team with seven.
The Racers return home Saturday to host SEMO in a women's/men's doubleheader at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. The women's game begins at 5 p.m. with the men's game set for a 7 p.m. tip.

The win tonight for the Racers means there is a three-way tie in the loss column in the OVC West Division. MSU is 7-5. UT Martin defeated SEMO at home 77-64 and are 6-5 and Eastern Illinois is 7-5 after losing at home to Austin Peay Wednesday 79-70.
The Racers lead the all-time series with SIUE 15-3 and 5-3 at SIUE. MSU has won the last five in the series since a loss at SIUE in 2014.
Jeffery Moss was the larger focus of the SIUE defense having scored 26.5 points per game in the last three. Moss finished with eight points and pushed his consecutive games streak of making a 3-point basket to 11.
Justin Seymour hit 4-of-5 from 3-point range tonight and has a streak of eight games with a made three.
Moss made his 95th straight start.
Wayne Langston was 8-of-8 from the line tonight and is 18-of-21 (.857) in the last five games.
The Racers have eight steals marking their best game since they had 10 against Tennessee Tech (Jan. 7).
