Racers: Feb. 25 away vs Eastern Illinois
Governors: Feb. 25 away vs SIUE
With the Ohio Valley Conference West Division title within their grasp, the Murray State Racers face a critical game Saturday when they take on the Austin Peay Governors at Dave Aaron Arena in Clarksville, Tenn. The 6:30 p.m. tip is the second part of a doubleheader after the MSU women play APSU at 4 p.m.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis and commentary. Online video is available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Racers (14-12) enter the game with a share of first place in the OVC West at 8-5 with UT Martin. UTM won their game Thursday at home 87-84 in overtime over Eastern Illinois to go to 8-5. The two finish the regular season against each other in Murray (Feb. 27). But before then, the Racers have big games against the Govs and Thursday at Eastern Illinois.
MSU's Jeffery Moss is having an outstanding senior run in OVC play. He's one of six current OVC players with 1,300 career points. He's also fourth in rebounds among active players. Moss has been the boss by scoring 20-plus points in four of his last five games for a 22.6 average. He's 24-of-46 (.521) in the same period from longe range. As MSU's best defenders, Moss helps the Racers lead the OVC in holding opponents to less than 66 points per game.
Jeffery Moss and Justin Seymour enter the APSU game with consecutive game streaks with a made 3-point basket. Moss's run is up to 12 and Seymour nine. The MSU record belongs to Isaiah Canaan when he had a streak of 38 straight between 2012 and 2013.
The Racers have won both games they've played since APSU came into Murray and snapped a nine-game losing streak to MSU 76-73 (Feb. 6). MSU defeated SIUE on the road last week 70-64, then hammered SEMO at home Saturday (Feb. 13) 83-56. Against SEMO, the Racers had their best shooting game of the season that included 14 3-point baskets.
Racer Athletics announced a public time of visitation for MSU great Bennie Purcell who died at 86 years old  on Feb. 12. When the Racers play UTM on Feb. 27, the visitation will occur from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Burton Family Hall of Champions which is located next to the CFSB Center.
Next week MSU plays at EIU on Thursday in an 8:30 p.m. tip on the CBS Sports Network.
