Gamecocks Top Racers in Nashville

The Murray State men's tennis team started their weekend in Nashville on a sour note as they were defeated by No. 69 South Carolina on Thursday. The Gamecocks topped MSU 6-1 in the match with the Racers lone point coming at the No. 6 singles.
In the No. 1 doubles, Marcel Ueltzhoeffer and David Schrott kept it close with their SEC opponents. The pair was behind 4-5 but did was unable to finish the match due to South Carolina clinching the doubles point and the 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Racers were unable to bounce back in the singles matches. Ueltzhoeffer played his match at the No. 1 singles for the second time this season. He kept the sets close but was unable to get the win as he was defeated 6-3, 6-4. Will True moved to the No. 2 singles for the match. He was defeated 6-2, 6-1.
The lone point for the Racers came at the No. 6 singles. Javier Villar won his match on a walkover by USC.
MSU (2-9) looks to bounce back in their non conference finale as they face Lipscomb on Friday in Nashville, Tennessee. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
